Recent Work- Early in 2010, this committee distributed a survey to teachers at the local schools asking what the City can do to help them reach the goal of a superb education opportunity for our children. They are now reviewing the responses to come up with recommendations to the Clay City Council.
Committee Function- Clay residents take great pride on the stellar education available to their children. The School Committe consists of a group of concerned parents, teachers and Clay residents who are focused on assisting the schools in the feeder pattern of Clay Elementary, Chalkville Elementary, Clay-Chalkville High School and Clay-Chalkville Middle School. The committee will concentrate community effort in assisting these schools by working to improve the learning environment, supporting and encouragint teachers and serving as a point of contact for the community to the school, should they so desire. This committee makes recomendations to the Clay City Council, which makes final decisions on projects requiring city funding.
This area is of great importance, being a drawing card for people to move to the area. The School Committee encourages Clay residents to attend their meetings and join them in working toward further improvement of Clay area schools.
