Clay's Tornado Recovery Effort |

The city of Clay has experienced a huge loss of property and one fatality from a tornado that came through Hickory Hills, Crest Estates, Paradise Valley, Georgebrook, Steeplechase, Rosewood and Twin Lakes subdivisions in the wee hours of January 23. We ask for your prayers and patience as we work through the recovery process.

Roads: Residents will have to show proof of residency to be allowed into disaster areas. Please follow us on Facebook to stay informed of the latest road closings. Sightseers are not welcome and have been hindering the work. Please watch local news media to see pictures and video of the damage.
Law Enforcement: Law enforcement personnel are patroling in the disaster areas every night. Anyone seeing anything suspicous should contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 325-1450. In the disaster areas, only residents, city employees, news media, law enforcement, volunteers with a yellow armband and companies with a neon-colored card in their car are allowed.
Food: Many churches are offering food to the workers and victims. Also, the Masonic lodges on both ends of Clay are offering food. Clayridge Baptist Church and Clearview Baptist Church, both on Old Springville Road and Faith Baptist Church on Tyler Loop Road are offering food. Also, NorthPark Baptist Church on Deerfoot Parkway is offering food. Other organizations are offering food in the disaster areas. To see the latest of who is offering food, follow us on Facebook.
Lost and Found: Items found that may belong to tornado victims should be put in a plastic bag, if possible, and brought to City Hall at 6757 Old Springville Road or taken to Re/Max Realty Marketplace at 7145 Happy Hollow Road, Suite 100, in Trussville. Both locations will be secure.
Communication and Coordination: Please "like" us on Facebook to keep up with the latest information and instructions. Call City Hall at 205-680-1223 if you have questions. Volunteer command center is at the Clay United Methodist Church at the corner of Old Springville Road and Clay Palmerdale Road until Friday night. On Saturday, the command center will be at Clay-Chalkville High School parking lot. It will return to the Clay United Methodist Church on Monday.
